Thomas McNair, VP and Director of Lending. Thomas graduated from the University of Minnesota in 1977 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. He attended the Minnesota School of Banking at St. Olaf in 1981. The Minnesota Bankere Association Commercial Lending Graduate School at the University of Oklahoma in 1987 and Graduate Schoool of Banking at the University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1995. Tom worked at the First Bank Minneapolis from 1977 to 1978 in the sales finance department. From 1978 to 2004, he worked with First National Bank of Elk River in various roles, including Executive Vice President/Manager of Lending. From 2004 to the present, Tom has been the Director of Lending for The Bank of Elk River. Tom has served on various civic boards including ELK RIVER ROTARY, Elk River EDA Finance Committee, Elk River Area Arts Alliance and The Elk River United Way.
Tom loved everything to do with nature and the outdoors. His appreciation for all plants, animals, lakes and rivers was immense. He loved to work and play hard. He loved tree cutting, working around the house, golf, cribbage, Tuesday night pool, wood carving, playing the harmonica and piano. He was a great storyteller. He loved games and always played to win.
He was by far the most proud and honored to be the father of his sons - Adam and Andrew. His happiest times were spent together as a family.
Tom and Mary started dating in 10th grade and married in 1975. They loved to do many things together, including biking, golfing, canoeing, going out to eat, cross country skiing, going to Ottertail, vacationing, sharing anniversaries with Jim and Kathy, tubbing with Bev and Dale, throwing Labor Day island parties, early morning coffee by the river, campfires, and spending time with family and friends. He was the best son, husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. We love Tom with all our hearts and will miss him with all of our being!
